Virginia Martinez

Graduated in Piano and Harmony, Virginia Martínez received a scholarship from the Séneca Foundation of Murcia to continue her studies in Orchestra Conducting at the City of Vienna Conservatory, having Reinhard Schwarz and Georg Mark as instructors. Since then, she has successfully conducted the Spanish National Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony, L’Orchestre National du Montpellier, Brazil National Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra Radio Vienna, among others. In January 2004, she was awarded “Youth of the Year” by the Region of Murcia and was appointed assistant to Bertrand de Billy at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. In December 2009, she toured the United States with concerts at the Lincoln Center (New York) and at the McCormick Place (Chicago). She is currently Principal Conductor of the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia and Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Symphony Orchestra of Region of Murcia.
