Born in Poland and raised in Portugal, Jan Wierzba is regarded as one of the most promising conductors of the Portuguese scene. In 2015, he debuted with the Orchestra Gulbenkian, the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata and was a semi-finalist of the International Conductors’ Competition Sir Georg Solti. He assisted Jac van Steen, Andrew Davis and Juanjo Mena.
He studied with C. Rundell and M. Heron at the Royal Northern College of Music, and N. Pasquet through the ERASMUS programme. He has attended masterclasses with Nicolas Pasquet, Sir Mark Elder, Juanjo Mena, Peter Rundel, Jorma Panula, Johannes Schlaefli, and Paavo Järvi.
